I saw this on the straits times today. I think most of the year 1 can make it for the age limit. If your can make it why not give it a try? It's a chance unlike any other to gain so much exposure. I've seen the current u17 set up whom are most probably in that squad and i think some of your stand a good chance to break into the squad. Too bad i can't make it. Haiz... Guess i'm left with the senior squad to break into. But i wonder. If charmaine of Arion is only 17 now will that mean she's in it? She in senior squad already leh.

To all who nvr play a lot during POL-ITE; don't let what happen haunt you. It's okay to be sad but don't let it overcome you. Look at c.ronaldo. He always tells ppl of the dark days he had at portugal. Look at how successful he is now. Don't let the sadness overcome you but overcome it and be such a mentally strong person who'll fight till the very end. I do admit it still hurts me as there is so much promise this year untill sth happens but trust me i will not let it affect me for long.

This post goes out to all of your who really stood by me during the really testing times during POL-ITE and really took away a lot of hurt as i could've been hurt more if not for your. Special thanks to deemei, haini and b1 who kept my confidence going since the 1st match like telling me "don't be so sad", "you'll have your chance. the game is not over". Your've been such a motivation during this testing time.

Also special thanks to ping who virtually drag me to receive the medal after i don't feel like doing so and also double check to make sure i'm in every group huddle. Without you i would've really seriously considered walking out on the team before matches end. Also to my junior QM aisyah who said "thanks for the commentary" on the bench after i say any views on the bench. It at least let me know someone is hearing my views. Just don't said that to any other ppl. They'll start a quarell with you. hahaha

Anway, i MIGHT be able to make it for training next week since my attachment is more realxed already. Maybe i should tell edmund to rescue me this couch potato. haha. For the friendly against SAJC, i do have that little little bit of info. After all, my church is at SAJC. SAJC are a team that is good collectively, not as individual if i am not wrong. They will lose to us as individuals i think but as a unit they are strong so your know what to do already, right?

I'll start with yesterday's training with Ying & Halu.

Tribaldance-like dynamic warm-ups

(May sound a bit complex, but try doing it on yr own while reading, easier)

1) Touch your right outside foot with your right hand,
touch the ground with the same right foot,
Then touch the inside of this foot using your left hand.

It's the same for your left foot.

Touch your left outside foot with your left hand,
touch the ground with the same left foot,
Then touch the inside of this foot using your right hand.

Start with the right foot, then do your left, do it fast.

2) Take two small steps forward for momentum,
swing your right foot as though you are shooting
Then bend your upper body towards your right

Start with the right foot, then do your left, do it fast.

I can't remember the rest, let's move on to the drills.

Drills

1) Take a partner, stand about 2 metres facing each other.
The one without the ball will back-peddle
The one with the ball will pass it forward to the back-peddling partner
The back-peddling partner will have to stop the ball, or push it slightly forward for the other partner.

The trick is to:

Of course you have to pass well

Pass with the right weight (hard enough, but not too hard) so that the ball will travel to your back-peddling partner

The back-peddling partner has to stop the ball well, even if it's a hard pass

The partner with the ball has to pass while the other one is back-peddling, don't stop and wait.

If you are comfortable:

Backpeddle fast, then slow down to stop the ball.
Run fast after you pass, but slow down before you pass.
There must be the change of speed.

Do it fast, then it'll have effect.

2) Do the same thing for:

Throw the ball, and kicking it back with your inside foot

Heading

Change:

The back-peddling partner throws the ball instead.

3) Take a partner, stand on the same line as her, several metres apart.
The one with the ball will have to pass it in front of her partner.
Then the one without the ball will have to run forward, meet the ball, either do a one-touch or a two-touch to pass the ball back in front of the other partner.

The trick is to:

Pass well and hard so that the ball can reach your partner.
No point running towards each other to get the ball.

Not to pass too wide so that your partner don't have to run too far to pick it

Always pass in front of your partner so that she don't have to run back for the ball.

*If you're the partner standing on the left,
when the ball comes in to your right,
stop it with your left foot.
So that you can still shield the ball away from the defender
If you stop the ball your right foot,
it is likely that you will lose the ball to the defender

4) Criss-cross I

Take a partner, stand on the same line as her, several metres apart.
The one with the ball dribble, the one without run, diagonally towards, the centre.
The one with the ball should always be in front
The one without the ball call for the ball
Then at the centre, the one with the ball will back-heel lightly/stop the ball for her partner.
The partner will pick up the ball and continue the run.

Repeat the above until you reach the end of the line.

The trick is to:

THE DUMMY - Always have the one dribbling the ball in front so that she can shield the defender while you take the ball.

The Dummy must dribble the ball fast, then slow down after passing.
The partner receiving the ball must speed up on dribbling the ball.
*Football is about the change of pace.

5) Criss-cross II

Take a partner, stand on the same line as her, several metres apart.
The one without the ball will sprint diagonally to the front of her partner.
The partner with the ball will pass the ball lightly in front for the running partner.

The trick is:

Timing is key.

Change of pace

We have also prac kicking both grounders and high balls. It'll be more effective to prac it on your own in the field.

These are only theories meant to refresh what we have learnt and share with the training-skippers. To the latter, the impt thing is still to come down and put them into practice.

Then when the Dream Move money is processed, we will split the amount equally.

Training
As you know, trainings are now held 3 times a week. For every Mike Wong/Ying & Halu training you miss, you miss everything that we, as a team, should learn and prac before the big matches.

Hence I shall post the 'what-we-learnt' exercises during trainings so that those of you on attachment or having work can read and imagine and prac on yr own in lonely toilets or while zapping stuff for yr dad at home.

RP will be the convener for the POL-ITE Female Soccer Tournament for AY0708. The Tournament will be held during the period of 15th October to possibly up to 1st week of November depending on the number of teams participating.

Thus, I would like to confirm the participation of the institutions in this Tournament. Based on last yearâ€™s response, only 3 teams; ITE, NYP and NP participated in the competition. This year, RP will be joining in the games as well. Please confirm your participation with me by Wednesday 22nd August.

For the institutions that will be participating, please find the R & R for last yearâ€™s competition attached. Kindly indicate your acceptance or proposed changes for the R & R so that we are able to confirm if a convenerâ€™s meeting is necessary. Should a meeting be necessary, the proposed date would be 27th August, Monday, 4pm at Republic Polytechnic Sports Hall Briefing Room Level 1.

Today the woman from Fico Sports Hub called me and informed me of this event. I'm not sure what Water Soccer is, but from what Google has informed me, it is something like the above shown picture.

Personally, I don't know how we're gonna play Water Soccer when at this current moment in time our Field Soccer isn't up to par. =)
